How the trial works
Day 0
The clock starts with the work.
The 14 days start the first time Night Crew keeps your Mac awake for an agent or you use lid mode, or a week after you install, whichever comes first.
Days 1–14
Everything, unlocked.
Agent watching, lid mode, activity history and the journal: the full app, with no account and no card.
Day 15+
Your call.
Add a licence and everything carries on as it was. Without one, Night Crew stops keeping your Mac awake, and it sleeps on its normal schedule again.
The licence
A key, not a leash.
One key activates two Macs. Swap machines whenever you like: deactivate a Mac from Settings › Licence, or from Polar’s customer portal if you no longer have it.
The licence is checked about weekly. Offline for a stretch? Nothing changes for 30 days. After 30 days offline, Night Crew pauses until your Mac checks in once.

Is Night Crew a subscription?
No. You pay once: $9 at launch, $12 from 1 December 2026. Future updates and features are included, and taxes are added at checkout by Polar, the merchant of record.
When does the free trial start?
The 14 days start the first time Night Crew keeps your Mac awake for an agent or you use lid mode, or 7 days after you install it, whichever comes first. No account and no card.
What stops working after the trial?
Everything. Without a licence, Night Crew stops watching agents, lid mode turns off and Keep Awake stops, so your Mac sleeps on its normal schedule again. Add a licence key at any time and it all carries on as it was.
How many Macs does one key cover?
2. Deactivate a Mac any time in Settings › Licence, or from Polar's customer portal if you no longer have that Mac.
Can I buy Night Crew for my team?
Yes. Buy 2 or more seats in one checkout: $9 a seat for the first 20 and $7 for each seat after that, paid once, with one invoice. Each seat is one person's licence for 2 Macs. You assign seats by email from Polar's customer portal, and can move a seat when someone leaves.
What's the refund policy?
30 days, full refund, no questions asked. Payments and refunds run through Polar, the merchant of record.
What happens if my Mac is offline for a while?
Nothing, for 30 days. After that, agent watching and lid mode pause until your Mac checks in once. Keep Awake and the guards keep working the whole time.
Does Night Crew phone home?
Three small requests: a daily update check, a small signed status file from the same server each day, and, once you've bought, a licence check about weekly. No analytics. It keeps event names and times, session IDs, project folder names and scheduled-run times, never your prompts, code or chat text.
Will my agents keep working with the lid closed?
Yes, with lid mode. You approve a small helper once in System Settings; it can only turn sleep off and back on. By default it works on the charger only. Allow battery and it stops at its own 30% floor, or when the Mac gets warm. If Night Crew quits or crashes, normal sleep comes back on its own.
Does it keep my Mac awake when the agent is idle?
No. It holds the Mac awake only while an agent is working, plus a 60-second grace you can set from 0 to 10 minutes. Builds an agent leaves running get up to 2 hours, and a 24-hour cap ends any hold that runs too long.
Which agents does Night Crew work with?
Claude Code, in the terminal and the VS Code extension, with no setup. Codex, Cursor and Gemini CLI each take one click to add a small hook, and your settings file is backed up first.
Can I run it in a closed bag?
Don't. Night Crew stops if your Mac gets hot, but a closed bag traps heat fast. The safe setup is a desk with clear vents, on the charger.
Will it work on my work Mac?
Employer-managed Macs aren't supported: device-management policies can override sleep in ways Night Crew can't honestly promise to handle. On your own Mac it needs macOS 14 or later.
Where do I download it?
Only from nightcrewapp.com. The app is signed and notarized by Apple, and updates arrive inside the app, checked before they install.
Cheaper than one lost run.
$9 once, for the Mac that already works harder at night than you do.
